THE EVENT
The Concrete Manufacturers Association recently held their ” Awards for Excellence” gala dinner at the Venue in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. The glittering event celebrated concrete manufacturers nationally and highlighted the technical and aesthetic excellence in our industry. C.E.L. Paving were nominated in 2 categories, namely Engineering Excellence – Paving, and Functionality for Life – Projects over 20 years old.
C.E.L. Paving Products wins
For the category, Engineering Excellence – Paving, we submitted an entry for our concrete block pavers for the Mouille Point/ Sea Point Promenade. The concrete pavers were engineered in such a way as to repel moisture and salt and survive the harshest of environs on the promenade. We were the outright winner in this category.
For the category Functionality for Life we submitted the project Belville Velodrome. For this project we supplied our interlocker pavers externally and our grey bond pavers, inside the stadium. The concrete paving was laid in 1997, and to date, apart from normal wear and tear, the paving has withstood over 11 million visitors and deliveries. Once again we were the winners in this category.
